Three people killed in avalanche in Nepal

A file photo of an avalanche used for representational purpose only.  KATHMANDU: At least three people were killed and nine others were injured in an avalanche in Nepal’s Karnali province, a media report said on Sunday. The incident occurred on Saturday morning at Chyarkhu Pass of the Mugu district of the province, the Kathmandu Post reported. Officials said that fourteen people from Patarasi municipality in the district had gone to Chyarkhu to collect Yarshagumba (caterpillar fungus). Of them three passed away and nine others sustained minor injuries in the avalanche. “So far in the incident a total of three people have died and nine others have got injured. These two huge rocks were delivered from Nepal to Ramsevakpuram on Wednesday evening. On Thursday, these were formally presented by Ram Tapeshwar Das, Mahant of Janaki Temple of Janaki Temple, capital of ancient Mithila, Nepal, and Vimalendra Nidhi, former Deputy Prime Minister of Nepal, through a letter of dedication to Champat Rai, General Secretary of Ram Janmabhoomi Tirtha Kshetra Trust. Before this, 51 Vedic Acharyas worshiped the rock according to religious customs.
